Shure MV7 Microphone - Best Youtube Microphone 2021

Joe Rogan uses the Shure SM7B for the JRE experience podcast & Michael Jackson used the SM7B for his vocals... That's how you know Shure mics are very good.

The only downside to the Shure SM7B microphone is the fact that it will set you back around £390 at the time of this video...and for some...the setup of such a professional-grade mic might not be so user-friendly...

now enter the New Shure MV7 podcast mic.

A more affordable version of the legendary Shure SM7B....with a bunch of added features tailored very specifically for content creators...

MV7's recording prowess is focused more on the vocal range. This makes the Shure MV7 the perfect mic for recording podcasts, live streams, vocals for songs & voice over for video content like this.

So let's get a closer look at this bad boy. So the Shure MV7 has a smaller & lighter form factor than the SM7B. It pretty much an all-metal body with this nice anodized aluminum finish.

It uses a cardioid pick up pattern & is designed to be pointed right at you.

The MV7s dynamic recording cartridge is located under this very nice windshield & It's even got an internal shock mount built-in.

On the base, we have an analog input for your headphones & check this out... Here's one of the very user-friendly advantages the Shure MV7 has over the Shure SM7B.

It's the fact the MV7 still has the pro-grade XLR output... As well as a micro USB port... This means you can plug it directly into a Mac or PC without needing to buy any additional audio equipment...

So yes the MV7 is an XLR/USB hybrid & you can use the USB & XLR ports simultaneously. This opens up a ton of pro interface recording options & USB versatility when you need it. And Shure does throw in a micro-USB to USB c cable as well as a standard one.

The USB connection also opens the door to tons of very awesome features via the Shure MotivPlus app.

For example, the auto-level mode is very useful as it can adjust audio levels in real-time. If you like to use your mic far away or right up close it can dynamically adjust. I love the vocal presets Shure has thrown in to the Shure Motiv Plus app. it just makes life so much easier. Once you've found the sounds you like... You just select it and you are ready to roll.

But if you want to... You can get creative with your recordings, by utilizing the manual controls within the Shureplus Motiv app. A great feature here is once you've dialed in your perfect settings the mics onboard DSP store them on the mic itself. So if you choose to use the Shure MV7 with any other hardware your sound is already pre-programmed in.

Now if you're not into all the desktop app tuning stuff. The MV7 has basic onboard controls in the form of this touch panel with LED light indicators behind it. This gives you a nice & quick way to adjust the gain & headphone playback levels or mute the mic with simple tap & slide gestures.

I love this Mic. I've used various mics over the years here on WhatGear reviews...and this one the Shure MV7 is in my top 3. I love it. So from right now is going to be my go-to mic.
