Samsung Galaxy Flip 6 & Fold 6 Colours & Upgrades

Once again, I've been lucky enough to be invited to Samsung KX before the unpacked event to get an early look at all the new Galaxy 6th generation Foldable & Flippable tech. So, in the video above, I give you guys a close-up look at the new colours of the Fold & Flip so that you can choose the right one.

I'll also highlight the key design upgrades you need to know about. And if you stick around, I'll show you some of the new stuff the phones can do.

Galaxy Fold 6 - Titanium Blue

Let's start with the Z Fold 6. This is the new Titanium blue. The colour is quite dark blue, almost navy blue to the eye. It's definitely one for the people who want their phone to be a little low-key, stealthy, and not too flashy… but it looks premium.

Now, something interesting about all the folds you can't see is that the new Armour aluminium used is 10% stronger and more scratch-resistant. At the same time, they're 14 grams lighter than Fold 5.

Titanium Pink

Now, this one is the Titanium Pink. And it's not a vibrant pink hue. It's a soft Marshmallow pink colour, which will probably be popular with the ladies.

Something else that may be hard to notice is that the edges now seem squared off. Which I really like. It's surprisingly comfortable to hold & it feels noticeably thinner when closed. And that's because it is thinner. The Fold 5 was 13.4mm thick when closed. The 6 is 12.1.

And the hinge has been redesigned. It's now a dual rail hinge setup, which helps reduce the weight, and you can still see a small gap down the middle near the hinge, but it's tiny.

But here's a very significant upgrade. Previous folds and flips did have an IPX rating for water resistance, but now they both have official IP ratings, with the Fold now being IP68, So dust and water-resistant.

And while we're here. You may not have noticed it, but the form factor is shorter, and the cover display is wider. It's now a 6.3". The Fold 5 was 6.2". Samsung has achieved this by shrinking the bezels.

Shadow Silver

Ok, now my personal favourite is the Shadow Silver. This one looks the most striking to me. It's the most eye-catching and most neutral colour of the three. I particularly liked the titanium Silver S24 ultra because of its metallic look, and that's the reason I like this one. But what about you?

Now, here are a few subtle upgrades that you can't see. The Z Fold 6 has upgraded speakers and mics & the primary camera is now the same as the one seen on the S24 ultra & ultra-wide lens also has a new and improved sensor behind it. And you'll notice the camera lens design has these dark rings around them. Similar to what my eyes look like after staying up all night editing these videos.

Here are the most significant upgrades. The inner display is now quite a bit larger. Again, it's shorter and wider with thinner bezels. It's a 7.5" display now, and both displays now have a significantly higher peak brightness of 2600nitts.

On the inner display, a new material was used to reduce the visibility of the crease. It's still there if you're really looking for it.

And two more big upgrades beneath the surface will massively improve the performance. It's the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. It's an overlocked version of Qualcomm's latest chip, exclusive to Samsung. NPU is up 41%, GPU is up 25% and the CPU is up 14%. And to help this run at peak performance for longer without throttling performance. Samsung has upgraded the Vapour cooling chamber. It's not 1.6X larger than on the Z Fold 5.

And something else worth noting is the new official case with the S Pen. It's much slimmer than before. Which is nice to see...

Galaxy Z Flip 6 Colours

Ok, now the Z Flip 6. There are four colours, blue, yellow, silver, Shadow and Mint. Let's start with the Mint. This colour is really nice. Like the Pink Fold, the colour is more pastel and less saturated. The upgraded Armour Aluminium frame also has a slight tint to match. Which is nice.

The Yellow, again, is not a strong tone which is a good thing. It's more of a pastel colour, which adds character without making it too oversaturated. Again, that tint is reflected in the frame. It looks good, but I prefer something else.

For me, it's between the blue and the shadow silver…the blue Flip 6 is kind of a light blue, which looks nice. All three have that soft frosted glass finish. And I do like the blue tint on the metal on this one, but I think it's another win for the silver shadow. To me, it looks the most premium.

It stands out the most. And again, I do like the full metal look that it has. Like the Fold 6, the back and front are Victus 2 Glass. While there are few visible differences between Flip 5 & 6, one stands out. The colour-matching camera rings around the lenses are less visible, just like on the Fold 6. The Flip 6 has that more scratch-resistant metal frame and hinge, improved protection on the inner display, and the new dual rail hinge. And now the Flip 6 is water and dust-resistant.

The reality is that most of the significant differences this year are on the inside. This year's Galaxy Flips have upgraded batteries, which are now 4000mAh, up from 3700. The RAM has also been upgraded from 8GB to 12 GB. And Flip 6 is rocking the same chip as the Fold 6, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy…and for the first time ever on any Z Flip, it has a vapour cooling chamber, which is actually 150% larger than the one used on the S23 Ultra.

This means the performance should be massively improved compared to Z Flip 5. And that's good news because there are many new features to play with. I will show you guys once I get more time to use the devices. But before you go. Here's a little taste of what the Galaxies have in store if you get one.

There's a new Flex mode interpreter feature. You can talk in your language, and the other person can see the text translation in their language & vice versa. They can speak, and you can see what they say in your native text. This is very handy when on holiday & also when learning a new language.

There's also an awesome new Sketch on image AI feature, where the Galaxy will recognise what you're trying to draw, and then it will add an AI AI-generated image into the original & honestly, this is very impressive. You can also take photos and instantly use AI to generate different stylised art types.

There are lots more features with the S Pen and flex mode video with the Flip 6, which we'll dive into when the phones are officially released. And before you go, there are quite a few more new releases to keep an eye out for on the channel. There's the much anticipated Galaxy Ring, the new Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro & of course, the new Watches. So keep an eye out for those videos and join me once again, and together, we can rule the Galaxy.
