I'm NEVER mopping floors again! - Narwal T10 Review
/The Narwal T10 is the worlds first self-cleaning robot mop & vacuum. It specialises in mopping with two oscillating rounded triangle brushes that spin at 180rpm. Each brush completes 3 rotations every second. It also can apply 10 newton's of downward force to assist with removing dried on stains...in crevices on your floors. The Narwal T10 unlike my other robot vacuum/mop, doesn't need to carry a water tank on its back to mop the floor. Instead, it returns to base periodically to rinse out the dirty water, refresh its brushes with fresh water and detergent and then continue on its mission… to boldly go and scrub the floors like no man has done before…
My other robot mop doesn't do this. And don't change the pads it will eventually start doing the opposite of cleaning....and begin dragging a dirty cloth around your floors. What makes the Narwal T10 even more hygenic is the fact that when it completes it task, it will RTB one last time and to complete a final cleaning of its brushes & dry the brush heads using an air filtration system that's built into the dock...and it does this so that it starts to grow new bacteria civilisations if it's own.
All this whilst you can get busy doing nothing…
So let me show you how it works. The base station has two 5 litre tanks onboard. One is for clean water & a special cleaning solution & the other is for the unclean water extracted from the brushes.
And Narwal says 5litre Is enough to clean 3000 sq ft of hard floors…and if your house is bigger than that, you can enlist a fleet of T10s to carry out your housework & control them all on a single app. Here's a disclaimer though. If you have areas of hard floors and areas and carpet in-between. You had better set some boundaries to stop the T10 from dampening your carpet as it drives across them.
There are two ways to do this. You can set virtual boundaries within the app. Or you can use the magnetic strip that Narwal provides in the box to create a magnetic Force field. The Narwal T10 will detect the magnetic field, and it shall not pass.
Now, If you have carpets that you'd like the T10 to deal with. A vacuum attachment comes with it & clicks on quickly when needed. And it does a decent job at vacuuming with its 1800 Pascal's of suction. That's 300 more than Ecovacs T8 and it's got two sweepers that kind of flick dust towards the vacuum slot...so that it can beam up the particles & transport them into the onboard 430ml dust bin… think of it as roughly two cups full of dust and stuff…
Keep in mind you will need to empty the dustbin from time to time, depending on dusty your floor gets. As there are no vacuum bags at the docking bay. It's worth mentioning the T10 doesn't have the rollers like we see on my Ecovacs t8. Narwal considers it an advantage in the sense that it won't get long hairs tangled up in it…and you have to constantly cut them away.
It's pretty good at vacuuming but, in my honest opinion, the Narwal T10 seems to be purpose-built for & specialises more in mopping hard floors. Of course, the T10 is a smart home device, and it intelligently navigates your house with very little input required. It does this using its rear-mounted laser guidance systems in the form of a rotating LiDAR sensor on its back. This sensor can measure and map distances 360 degrees around it.
And it really impressed me just how quickly the t10 can map the boundaries of the house.
There is also a built-in slam detector, which helps round tricky obstacles like chair legs and tables. It also has an array of sensors around its base that prevent it from face planting off of a balcony or down the stairs. Or, into an indoor swimming pool… and if you have one of those. I am excepting donations.
I must say that aesthetically, the T10 and the dock are nice. I like the clean white finish and the purple led lights on its back. Although it's quite large, the base station is also a nicely designed bit of kit. And blends in well, especially against a white wall. The onboard LCD on the dock is colourful and keeps you informed about what's happening at any given time with the T10.
It will also prompt you when to refill the water reserves. & if the robot needs assistance or anything like that. Also, on the base station, you'll find manual controls to recall the robot or send it on another mission without having to use your phone … and don't worry, you can child lock the buttons to stop those pesky kids from setting it off every 5 minutes.
And I like the voice queues. The Narwal T10 is really well-spoken. It has a pleasant calming voice to it… which is a bonus.
Now let's talk about the app. You can map and label areas of your home. You can set a cleaning schedule. For example, I've set mine to mop the floors in the evenings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays…every week. You can specify how many passes you'd like it to make in particular areas of your home. If around the front door gets muddy, you can instruct the T10 to go over it 3 times, and you can even tell it to use extra cleaning water for those areas.
There are also reports to check mission logs and other customisation tweets.
It's really is easy to set up and use. Some say the app is not as advanced as some other robot vac apps…but I think there is beauty in its simplicity. I just like how once it's set up, scheduled and configured it just kind of takes care of itself. Minimum effort is required, but you get maximum floor cleaning results… and this is precisely the reason to buy a robot mop in the first place. To free up more time to do nothing.
I absolutely can recon the Narwal T10 2 in 1 robot vacuum and mop. As for me, it's a game changer!
