We. HEAR Pro Bluetooth Speaker - I wish more speakers were like this!

Design and Build Quality

This is the We. HEAR Pro speaker from Loewe. It’s a one up from the more affordable We Hear regular edition. And for the extra money you get a bigger battery, with faster charging, and wired reverse charging for your mobile devices and of course a bigger sound. And there is one feature that's really it's upper power in my opinion.

It's a large portable speaker with a sleek and kind of minimalist design compared to some others in the category. It is available in three colours, denim, classic black and this one, the Neon. And this one is the Ninja Turtle, Killian Mbepe edition. I'm assuming the colour on this particular Neon one is to match his captain's armband that he wears when playing for the French national team.

The price point on this one is around £250 at the time of this video. And the regular non pro model is around £160.

This speaker is designed to fit seamlessly into any environment, whether at home or on the go. Of course, the Neon one may not, for obvious reasons...I mean it, Neon. It would be hard to miss this Neon colour on a dusty old bookshelf. And I think Loewe are targeting the younger demographic with some of the colour ways.

Its weight is what you would expect from such a large speaker, a 2.2KG but, to make it easier to transport Loewe have upgraded the strap attachment. And got some nice details on it too.

It is an indoor & outdoor speaker, so naturally, Loewe has ensured its robust enough. It’s been designed to meet the IPX6 rating requirement. This means it can withstand splashes and rain.  Although you might need to be careful on the beach, as the X in the IPX6 rating means that sand & grit could cause damage to the woofers. So you gotta be mindful of that

And I do particularly like the design of the woofers on each end. They have this nice pattern, and they look cool when they're playing, too. I also particularly like the recessed buttons and LED light bar volume slider. It's pretty slick. More on that in a minute

It has a flat edge across the side to stop it from rolling around on the table if you're using it horizontally. However, the charging port is also here, which means if you want to play music and charge, you'll have to use it in the upright position.

The Drivers

One of the standout features of the We. HEAR Pro is its sound quality. Loewe is a premium brand, and it is a German brand and their standards are high.

It has 100 watts of power, and it has officially 6 drivers, two midrange and two tweeters in a 2.0 stereo configuration and the two woofera. And although the speaker is round it’s not really an omnidirectional speaker as the main drivers are all facing towards the front. But the bass will radiate around and behind the speaker.

And it does have a good bass response. The measured frequency range here is 50 Hz on the low end and up to 20,000 kHz on the hi. For context, this range is wider than the average human hearing abilities & this is pretty standard for Bluetooth speakers in its price range.

But you know sometimes, more important the frequency response numbers is the quality of the driver's materials And Loewe aren’t known to be cheap on these kinds of things.

Sound quality

My opinions here are on the sound quality. It is impressive, straight out of the box. The clarity is really nice, particularly in terms of vocals and instrumental detail. The bass is present and boomy, not to the point where the mids become muddy. And even though the We Hear Pro sounds fantastic with Loewe preset EQ,

That feature I alluded to in the intro of this video. Is this you can use the onboard controls to manually adjust the bass and treble. Most BT speakers just jump to an enhanced bass or enhanced treble with no options in between.

I love that Loewe gives you this granular control of the EQ without ever having to use an app. And if you turn up either Bass or Treble to the maximum, the audio doesn't fall apart, which is always nice to hear. And the bass at its max level is very satisfying for a bass head like me.

Battery Life and Charging

Now, let's talk about power! The We. HEAR Pro has very good battery life with it offering more than 24 hours of playback time on a single charge. The fast charging capability via a USB-C PD supply allows the speaker to fully charge in less than 2 hours, ensuring minimal downtime.

This makes it great for hosting a party or a day out at the beach. And you do get that reverse charging feature, so it doubles up as a very large portable power bank if needed. As I mentioned earlier, my only slight criticism of the charging is the placement of the port. But apart from that, it's solid regards to battery.

Connectivity and Features

If you are wondering about connectivity. The We. HEAR Pro supports Bluetooth 5.3 this allows you to use multipoint pairing, & with a touch of this button you can create a stereo pair.

It's also got a built-in microphone, for phone calls. And I know some of you will appreciate this. It has a 3.5 mm AUX input for connecting external devices. In fact, this will likely be the best way to get the highest quality signal to this speaker.

Over BT, the codecs supported are A2DP, AVRCP, AAC. AAC being the go to codec for most devices for example the iPhone. Unfortunately, there are no HiRes codecs here. But with that said, most portable speakers don't tend to have HiRES codecs mainly due to their much shorter ranges that they support.

Loewe has designed the We. HEAR Pro with ease of use in mind there's no app but you don't really need it. I am a fan of its rugged but somehow elegant design. But to me maybe the most impressive aspects of this speaker is its sound quality, & battery life. It's of course an incredibly user-friendly EQ control.

These are what help it stand out in its category and if you get this NEON colour of this one…even more so. And if this sounds good to you, you'll appreciate the Loewe We. HEAR Pro the most. Now, I gotta go. It's Pizza time.
