Huawei IFA 2019 - Kirin 990 5G, Freebuds 3, NEW P30 pro & Mate 20X 5G
/Lot’s of exciting new tech emerged this year from the IFA 2019 in Berlin. I was lucky enough to be front and centre at Huawei’s keynote press conference where Huawei unveiled a brand new Flagship silicon. As well as some interesting new headphones to rival Apple’s airpods. The Kirin 990 5 - A NEW Flagship Chip
Every year smartphones become smarter and smarter, faster & faster. This year is no different. Ahead of the Mate 30 Pro launch later this month a new killer flagship 5G mobile chipset has been announced. So we can fully expect to this in Huawei’s next flagship as well as quad-camera layout including two 40MP sensors….well that’s what I heard. check out the WhatGear Quicky leaks series here
Here is what we know for sure. The Kirin 990 will be stepping up it’s mobile AI game to 2.0. Huawei’s AI 2.0 is actually 12 times better than 2018’s Kirin 970.
This jump forward in AI is partly thanks to its 5G compatibility. Once 5G is fully up to speed & we can get blistering fast speeds everywhere. The new Kirin processor will be able to take advantage of realtime processing locally and realtime processing via the cloud.
This means a server somewhere else on the planet can do all of the heavy lifting for the device. Which could hopefully result in better battery life, less heat dispersion inside the device & overall a better performing smartphone?
Something tells me that we are moving towards a day where speeds might get so fast we that all CPU processing can be done via cloud processing. What do you think?

One of the advantages the Kirin 990 silicon has over its current competitors is its 5G modem. At present most 5G devices will have a dedicated processor & a separate 5 modem which works fine. The advantage of Huawei’s new flagship is it takes up less space & it’s less power-hungry.
The Balong 5000 5G modem is built directly onto the Kirin 990 silicon. This helps to make the processor more energy-efficient and faster. In this make it fact around 24% more power-efficient than last years Kirin 980 chipset.

Take the blue pill buy the box standard, expensive Apple Airpod 2’s. Choose the red pill and get a very familiar form factor with better sound, active noise cancelling, the option of a black earbud and arguably a much nicer looking & slimmer charge case. Watch this video for the short story.
The Huawei Freebud 3’s have an all new Kirin A1 chip which brings some huge advantages over Apple’s trendy Airpods. With sound quality being at the forefront. Combine this with ultra low latency and bone conduction sensors…it really does leave the Airpod’s in the dust.
As well as improved audio quality the elephant in the room really is the Freebud’s active noise cancelling. These are in fact the worlds first open fit ANC earbuds & they can reduce -15dB of ambient noise. The Airpod’s do not do this at all.
That’s why I titled this video the Apple Airpod 2 Killers.
NEW HUAWEI P30 PRO COLOURS
The Huawei P30 is one of the very best Smartphones of 2019. Everything from is design, beautiful display and incredible cameras. Now we have two new additions to the P30 line up.
The first being a very girly Misty Lavender & the second a boyish Mystic Blue. This new design brings a new approach to avoiding fingerprints… which I’m sure you’ll agree is a problem on so many devices. Huawei have used a new dual gloss and matte finish. This should hopefully help the fingerprint situation and give the device a bit more grip.
